The eye, surrounded by rays of light and or inscribed in a triangle, in the Christian tradition symbolizes the all-seeing God and the Trinity. The earliest depictions of the all-seeing eye appear during the Renaissance, such as in Jacopo Pontormo's Supper at Emmaus (1525). Most people know this symbol because of its image on the American dollar.
